Located in the heart of South Salt Lake the Kearns St-Anns Orphanage stands proud as one of the most beautiful buildings in the valley. It was designed by the same architect the Cathedral of the Madeleine, Carl M. Neuhausen. Construction took place in 1899 by the Roman Catholic Church, but it required a donation from the widow of Senator Thomas Kearns in the amount of $55,000 to pay for much of the land and construction costs. In 1954 it was converted into a school and remains so to this day.
