#39 First Methodist Episcopal Church

The First Methodist Episcopal Church is the oldest surviving Methodist Church in Utah and located a short walk away from Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City. It was designed by Frederic A. Hale and constructed between 1905-1906 at a cost of $80,000.  Hale was a very prominent architect in Utah and its neighboring states. He designed many other buildings in Salt Lake including the old Salt Lake City Library, but only one church.

#29 St. Mary's Catholic Church

St. Mary's Catholic Church is situated at the southern end of downtown Park City. It was built in 1883 and is the oldest Catholic Church and School Building in Utah still in use to this day.  Irish immigrants who worked the coal mines made up a large portion of the population back then and almost all of whom were Catholic. A fire significantly damaged much of the building in 1951, but it was rebuilt by miners who were out of jobs. 

#20 Cathedral of the Madeleine

The "mother church of the Roman Catholic Church in Utah" was built  between 1900 and 1909.  The total cost for the entire project was $379,000.

In the '90s the interior of the church underwent a big $9.1M  renovation project and was rededicated in 1993.

#15 First Presbyterian Church

Just a few blocks east from the Salt Lake Temple, the cornerstone for this church was laid on June 3rd, 1903. Designed by Walter Ware in the English Gothic Style at a cost of $175,000, it took just under three years to complete and was dedicated on May 12, 1906.  Before the dedication in 1905, when it was ready enough to use, 1,000 worshipers marched from their old church building which they had previously used, to this one.  The churches Facebook sites states that the "FPC exists to help one another love God, love neighbor, and to make disciples."
