#35 Fairfield District School

The Fairfield District School is a fine example of a historical building that was saved and restored after falling into disrepair. The school was designed by the architect Richard Watkins who also designed the Maeser School in Provo. It was competed in 1897 and eventually a gymnasium was added followed by restrooms later on.  The town of Fairfield began to shrink in the early 1900s and in 1937 the school shut down. The town used the building for meetings for some time and in 1977 the gymnasium was taken down and the building donated to the Utah State Division of Parks and Recreation.  Finally in 2005 the school was restored and is once again used for town meetings.
